I was asked to document the final year of Jackson’s department store in Reading before it ceased trading after 138 years. It was such a beautiful project to be involved in. A step back in time to another world. I made drawings, prints, stitches but it was always the swimming hat department that drew me back and I made The lido girl series in response to my time there. These were shown alongside other pieces of work I made in Jackson’s in their final window display and as part of Open for Art with Jelly.
